SHOULDN’T A CABINET OR OTHER KEY NOMINEE BE A CHAMPION FOR THE VERY GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT THEY WILL LEAD? (An update of prior post.)

During the (much too long) Campaign, Donald Trump’s primary support came from the “older white males, with high school diplomas” demographic.  They apparently were attracted by his promises to: “Make America Great Again!”; bring-back the jobs; “Drain the Swamp!”; and his claim that he is a straight-talker.  Since the Election, however, Donald J. Trump has done everything; BUT, work toward fulfilling any of those promises.

Mr. Trump’s various Cabinet and other key nominees do not resemble anything like the Greater America, which he had promised!  What must coal miners, steel workers, truck drivers, and fast food minimum-wage earners, etc. be thinking about the direction in which Donald Trump’s is taking America.  Consider that his appointees:  all seem to be: pro-Business; against increases in the minimum wage or improvements in worker safety’; all for cost-effective automation; and in favor of repealing the Affordable Care Act (providing health insurance for the poor) and the Dodd-Frank Act, which reined-in the banks, post-2008.  And ideologically, they’re in lock-step with Trump!

Let’s consider Donald Trump’s nominations, at least so far:

Betsy DeVoss, the nominee for Education: Anti-Public Schools; pro-Vouchers and Charters Schools; however, she did contribute $11 million to his Campaign.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL), as Attorney General: Anti-Civil Rights throughout his government career.  Do you really believe that he will protect Voters’ Rights too?

Elaine Chao, Transportation: Pro-Business and advocated less enforcement of safety regulations, as George W. Bush’s Labor Secretary.  Wife of Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who is obviously pro-Coal Industry.

Wilbur Ross, Commerce:  Co-architect of your Infrastructure Scam, and profited from poor safety conditions after the Sago Mine Number One disaster, in West Virginia.

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, Environmental Protection Agency: Currently, suing the EPA in Federal Court, and he shares your anti-Environment views, to include the “Paris Accords”. Also sued the federal Government regarding: Immigration; the Affordable (Health) Care Act and the Dodd-Frank Act (for reining in the banks).

Thomas Price, MD, Health and Human Resources: Wants to repeal Obamacare; privatize Social Security; and provide Medicare beneficiaries with vouchers.

Benjamin S. Carson , M.D., Housing and Urban Development:  Noted surgeon, Dr, Carson , without experience either in housing or urban development has, perhaps, been appointed specifically due to his racist views.  He disagrees with proven research indicating that poor children who grow-up in economically diverse neighbor hoods, are more likely to succeed.

Steven Mnuchin, Treasury: former Goldman Sachs banker; current hedge fund manager, and profited handsomely from the recent wave of home foreclosures.

Lieutenant General Michael Flynn (Retired), National Security Advisor:  He comes with a lot of baggage: hot-tempered; prone to distributing conspiracy theories; and unpleasant to work with.

Steve Bannon, “Strategic Advisor”, another former Goldman Sachs banker, and the former Chairman of the Breitbart “News” web site, the journal of Ultra-Conservative Opinion and Commentary.

Reince Priebus, Chief-of-Staff: Current RNC Chairman, but having no government experience, Priebus is an odd choice to become the coordinator of getting legislation passed through Congress.

Andrew F. Pudzer, Labor: Owner of two fast-food outlets, he is vehemently against a living wage, overtime pay and worker protection laws.  In March, he suggested replacing some workers in his restaurants with robots.

Since Donald Trump specifically targeted the disaffected, average working-class Americans, just consider what it would be like to work within a Government, where: the President believes that disruption and unpredictability are to the cherished; the various government departments all seem to be operating within a permanent state of dysfunction; and even the person who heads your department, neither believe in its Mission Statement, and seems to working against its successful accomplishment.

Welcome to Donald Trump’s America!

Perhaps Donald was attracted to Andrew Pudzer’s outstanding sales skills, in tapping him to be the Secretary of Labor. See linked TV ad below:

I am not surprised. Of the Trump supporters I know personally, the majority of them are uninformed and were taken in by his campaign rhetoric.

Get them to call and Email their Electors–Senators and Congressman–suggesting that they vote, either for Hillary or Anybody But Trump–and take advantage of the purpose for which the Electoral College was intended.
Changing the minds of GOP Electors is much more important than just confirming what many DEMs already know.

Mabuhay!, to my visitors from the Philippines. Eight just today! I believe that there has been a great deal of interest there in following the “Adventures of Donald”, especially since your Presidential Election in early summer.

A great comment, by Stephen Colbert, as linked from the Miami Herald: “There is a trend of Trump appointing (actually nominating) people to head things they’re against. I’m looking forward to Surgeon General Joe Camel.”
