The Pew Research Center is a Highly-Respected, Non-Partisan “Fact Tank” (as it refers to itself). It does not attempt to suggest outcomes or parse policy; rather, it acts as a source of Facts regarding: Public Opinion; Politics and Public Policy. It carries out its function through seven different Projects. Since PEW is often referenced, I have attached the link for its web site. The “About the Center” link provides more information on its roll and how it operates. http://pewresearch.org/
More specific to the topic at hand, are the results of a PEW Poll, taken last year, which noted that Senior Citizens resisted Medicare Changes, http://www.people-press.org/2012/08/13/older-americans-have-been-highly-resistant-to-medicare-changes/
A more recent survey of Seniors, from June of this year, cited that Social Security was the most important issue behind the vote for many of them. So far, it looks like Poll Results were somewhat influenced by the Political Leanings of the participants. Hopefully, there will be an updated Poll soon, which can reflect the impact of the Campaign Rhetoric and Influences.
